Source: Russian govt may strengthen restrictions over coronavirus

MOSCOW, Mar 19 (PRIME) -- The Russian government is discussing strengthening of nationwide restrictions in light of the spread of coronavirus, a governmental source told PRIME on Thursday.

“Various options are discussed now including expansion of restrictive measures, and situation in other states – in China, in European states like Italy, France or Spain – is thoroughly analyzed. We can see what is happening there, the way the pandemic develops. That is why the government considers expansion of restrictions around Russia,” the source said.

The source said that the list of such measures includes reduction or cancellation of public cultural and sports events, disinfection at production plants and offices of public services, and adjustments to the regime of operations.

“So far it has been introduced in Moscow, and we have to decide on nationwide steps,” the source also said.
